My Current Views: Revision of Seche Vite, Helpful or Harmful

In 2011, I wrote a post about Seche Vite Topcoat, and whether it was harmful or helpful.  I haven’t blogged since January, 2012. I don’t check on my blog often, but I am aware of the comments made and read them. So, I decided to address the comments in this post, and give an update on my views.

I’ve been debating for the past few months about how I should approach this. Since this post was written,  I have made some changes in my lifestyle. I’m a lot more conscious of what I put into my body, and what I put on my body. For instance, I no longer eat foods that contain ingredients such as bht, bha, azodicarbonamide, and dyes such as yellow 5, yellow 6, to name a few. I’m just a lot more aware of what chemicals are put in products and I now choose to be proactive about what I purchase and how it affects my health. I’m not saying that I have been negatively affected by such products, but I feel better about myself when I attempt to live healthier.

In respects to the article, I hadn’t read it in sometime. I really hoped I didn’t give what seemed like an endorsement of Seche Vite.  At the time, with the information I was given, I felt that the amount of toulene presented in the topcoat wasn’t extremely harmful. And perhaps it isn’t. I still haven’t used Seche Vite, and now that I am more health conscious, there is no way I would use it, however miniscule the risk would be for adverse reactions.

I do have a couple of topcoats that I really like. Loreal’s topcoat is really good, except that it got thick and goopy when there was about 1/4 left in bottle and wouldn’t apply smoothly. Right now I’m using Nina Ultra Pro’s Topcoat I found at Sally’s and so far no complaints here.

Anyway, all that being said, I am not a healthcare professional. I’m not a scientist. This is a recreational blog. I’m just someone who adores nail polish and nail polish accessories (shout out King of the Hill)! I had some questions, found some answers, and thought I would share. My opinions change as my awareness grows.  As always, please follow manufacturer instructions when using any product.
