Adding color and glamour to life, one nail at a time.

There is an interesting article on titled “How To Choose The Most Flattering Nail Color For Your Skin Tone.” The title is self-explanatory, and the article is supposed to be yet another helpful beauty guide. You can read that whole article here, but here is an excerpt:

“There’s a shade of each color that will flatter every skin tone. Once you figure out how to choose what works for you, the more options (and fewer regrets) you’ll have.”

I disagree.

I was slightly offended by that title. Skin tone dictates so much in this world we live in already, why should I need a guide that tells me what nail polish would look best on me strictly according to the color on my skin? It’s not that serious folks.

I do understand that when it comes to beauty items that involve color such as hair, and makeup, etc., most people opt to choose something that is flattering to their skin tone. You won’t see me sporting bright blonde hair anytime soon! But to each their own. I guess I didn’t realize that nail polish fell into that category.

I believe that you should choose and wear whatever nail polish color you like, regardless of what undertones your skin has.  A long time go I had to learn to stop caring what other people thought about me, or what I’m wearing, or what I’m doing.  That has always included my nail polish.

And isn’t part of the fun of wearing nail polish trying out new, different colors, and finding out for yourself what works for you?! It is for me. I believe that nail polish falls into the subjective category. They don’t say that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” for nothing.

What do yall think?
